How can you be you when you don’t even know who you are? How can you be your authentic self when you don’t know who you are? How can you become a better you when you don’t even know what about you to change? You have to know yourself to grow yourself, you can’t fix what you are not aware of.
I have always wondered why things go the way it does in our individual lives. I have also observed how most of us struggle to align our dreams with our reality and how much we say and do things we do not mean. I was also curious about why we don’t get to achieve the things we desire to achieve; I mean our goals. Again, I wondered why there is so much struggle to even learn to become a better person when we deliberately choose to develop who we are.
Finally, this one thing became apparent to me, that most of us have all or one of these struggles because we have failed to do what we ought to do –to find self.
To find yourself is to find the real YOU. This is to embark on an internal journey of discovery of self. It is very foundational and as well as fundamental to all that we want to do, to have, to be or to become. It is the foundation upon which all success, growth, and transformation lies.
The courage, confidence, and character you desire to have is drawn from your core. Your core is who you are. Who you are is the way and manner you are wired. You are wired just the way you are for a specific purpose.
However, life situations happen and we grow up to describe who we are by what people have told us about ourselves, you describe yourself by your experiences and sometimes by the things you do or by the various roles you play in life. Should these define who you are? Are you really all of these?
My response to you is a big NO! You are not your failures, you are not your mistakes, you are not your past, the society has no power to call you who you are not and no one else should.
I know and understand the impact and influence parents, families, friends and community have on us. I understand how the hurt, pain, struggle, and experiences have left a mark on us. I know, but you should not let it define you, rather, let it give you the feedback and life lesson you need to live a more fulfilling and robust life.
Despite these realities of baggage, we all endeavor to deliberately take time out to go on a journey of finding self, finding your core and your essence. Doing this will give you the peace, productivity, and progress you need in your life. Finding self will put you in a state of clarity and give you the courage and the convictions needed to pursue your dreams and connect you to people and places you had always desired or dreamt of.
No one ever went on the internal journey of finding self and remained the same on the outside. Once there is shifting on the inside, there surely would be a visible difference on the outside.
Finding self gives you the clarity to plan and the confidence to pursue your goals, when you are confident you believe in yourself and find strength from within to keep pushing and keep living. It gives you convictions that help strengthen your beliefs and align your values.
It brings to your knowledge the understanding of what, why, and how your life should be and the direction it should go. You begin to find passion and want to truly live a significant, meaningful, and purposeful life. This alone brings you satisfaction and fulfillment.
If truly this is the life you dream of having, it really can happen only when you release yourself to the understanding of how to find your true You.
I leave you with this quote: “To reach a higher level of being, you must assume a higher concept of self,” Neville Goddard.
